Just remember that the CDCP will help pay for a portion of the cost, but not provide full coverage. If you qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, examples of services that could be covered include:
- Dental Exams
- X-Rays
- Cleaning and Scaling
- Permanent and Temporary Fillings
- Root Canal Treatment
- Abscess Treatment
- Complete Dentures
- Tooth Extraction
To see the full list of dental care services that may be covered, visit the Canadian government website here. Click on the arrows next to "Diagnostic and preventive services," "Basic services," etc., to expand the sections. Scroll down further for more information on how much will be covered and how co-payments work.
If you have met all eligibility requirements and have been approved to receive dental care under the CDCP, you’ll receive an identification number or card to present to participating dental clinics. It's important to note that dental offices may individually choose whether or not they accept patients under the CDCP. To find a dental office that is taking part, you can search for them on the Sun Life website or call your dental office.
