Invisalign® Aligners

Virtually Invisible, Custom-Made Aligners

Invisalign® aligners are custom made for you, to help you achieve properly aligned teeth. They are highly popular, as they give you straighter teeth, while being more comfortable than traditional braces with metal brackets. They also are nearly invisible, for discreet treatment. These clear aligners straighten teeth gradually, to give you a new smile.

Custom Made Aligners
Clear Invisalign® aligners are custom made for your teeth, for a comfortable, slip-free fit that won't push against or irritate your gums or mouth.
Reduce Risks for Tooth and Gum Problems
While your aligners should be worn at least 22 hours per day to straighten teeth properly, they can be removed to brush and floss your teeth. This helps you maintain better oral hygiene, to prevent tooth decay and gum problems.
Works Faster Than Metal Braces
While your specific treatment time will vary depending on the complexity of your case, braces generally take between 18 and 24 months, while Invisalign® generally takes only 12 months.

Why Correct Crooked or Misaligned Teeth?

Benefits of Straighter Teeth

While many patients choose to straighten teeth for cosmetic reasons, there are several other reasons to straighten teeth. Your new smile is better for oral health.

Crooked, misaligned, or crowded teeth are harder to clean, so are more likely to lead to tooth decay, gum disease, periodontal disease, or other concerns. Since uneven teeth mean uneven wear patterns, certain teeth are more likely to wear down prematurely or break. A poorly aligned jaw causes jaw pain and headaches.

Why Choose Invisalign®?

Benefits of the Invisalign® Treatment Process

While straightening misalignment by any method offers oral health benefits, there are some significant advantages to choosing Invisalign® aligners. An Invisalign® treatment is as effective as metal braces in most cases. Follow-up appointments are faster and easier, too.

Both Invisalign® and metal braces are long-term treatment plans. However, Invisalign® offers the benefit of your treatment process being more discreet and invisible for that time, without the look of braces.

Invisalign® trays are very thin and light, so very comfortable, compared to metal braces. Not only are metal braces more bulky, they are notorious for scratching soft tissues and causing irritation.

Because Invisalign® aligners can be removed, unlike traditional braces, you can clean your teeth better, for better oral hygiene. This is better for your oral health, reducing your chances of tooth decay and gum disease.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign® Consultation and Treatment Plan

The process starts when you come in for your free consultation, where we examine your teeth to determine whether Invisalign® is right for you. We'll take a digital scan, and develop a custom treatment plan. The time to correct your teeth will depend on how misaligned your teeth are. Invisalign® isn't usually recommended for severe crowding or jaw misalignment issues; your dentist will discuss alternative treatments if necessary. However, these clear aligners can fix overcrowding, gaps, crookedness, crossbites and overbites, so they are a versatile orthodontic treatment.

  • From the digital scan and impressions of your teeth, custom sets, or trays, of clear aligners will be made. These come in a series of trays with each tray to be worn in the correct order, to sequentially move your teeth into the desired position
  • Attachments, which are little tabs to help grip the teeth to help them shift correctly, may be used if you have a higher case complexity.
  • Aligners must be worn about 22 hours a day, for two weeks each. You can take them out to eat, brush and floss, but they should be worn the rest of the time. You will also need to come back for follow up appointments to ensure your teeth alignment is progressing as planned.

How to Care for Your Teeth and Your Clear Aligner

Good Oral Hygiene

While you are being treated by your Invisalign® aligners, you'll need to take care of them, as well as your teeth. Fortunately, Invisalign® makes it easy. You can continue to maintain good oral hygiene, as these clear aligners are removable. To care for your teeth, take your aligners off, to brush and floss just as you would normally, so you can keep your teeth and gums healthy.

To care for your aligners, take them out when eating or drinking anything other than water. Not only will it make eating easier, but it protects the trays from damage. Smoking or staining drinks will discolour a clear aligner. You can clean them with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste or special cleaning tablets, but avoid hot water which warps them. Whenever you take them off, be sure to put them in their protective case to avoid damage.
